A three course set lunch at Hutong, on Level 33 of The Shard, is £39. A window table at Hutong is £90. Both numbers are published on its own site, which makes it the only restaurant in the tower that tells you what the view actually costs.
Everyone else lets you find out when you are seated.
This is the thing nobody explains about eating at London Bridge. The station has a skyscraper on top of it and a street of cheap steak at the bottom, and the distance between them is about five minutes. What you are choosing between is not really restaurants. It is altitude, and whether you are paying for the glass or just for the room behind it.
What the view costs, floor by floor
Checked against each restaurant’s own published pages on 27 September 2026 and rechecked on 2 October 2026.
| Level | Venue | Cheapest published set menu | Window table |
|---|---|---|---|
| 31 | Aqua Shard | Express lunch from £35 | No policy published |
| 32 | Oblix West | £39 for three courses | No policy published |
| 33 | Hutong | £39 set lunch | £90 at lunch, £145 at dinner |
| 35 | TĪNG | Nothing published | No policy published |
| 52 | GŎNG | Nothing published | No policy published |
| 72 | The View from The Shard | Not a restaurant | Adult price not published on the site |
The prices stop at Level 33. Aqua Shard, Oblix and Hutong all advertise a set lunch at between £35 and £39, and all three of those figures are printed on the pages you land on. Above them, TĪNG on Level 35 and GŎNG on Level 52 publish no prices at all, and neither does the viewing platform at the top. Six rooms stacked in one tower, and the three lowest are the only ones that will tell you what anything costs.
Then read the last column rather than the third one. Only one restaurant in this building goes on to tell you that the cheap menu is a table in the room rather than a table at the glass.
Hutong’s own list of frequently asked questions includes the question “Am I able to request a window seat?”, and answers it plainly: window tables are guaranteed when you book the Skyline Set Menu, which is £90 a head at lunch and £145 at dinner. On any other menu a window can be requested and not promised.
There is no reason to think the other two work differently. Aqua Shard publishes no list of questions at all, only terms and conditions. Oblix names its £39 menu Lunch with a View and does not say where you sit. Assume the set lunch puts you inside the room, and treat a window as the thing you are actually negotiating.
The three restaurants in the tower
Aqua Shard, Level 31
The lowest of the three and the one with the longest bar hours, which turns out to matter more than the floor number.

How to get in
The express lunch at 35 pounds is the cheapest way to eat at height in this tower. The bar runs to midnight most nights and 1am at weekends, which is five hours after the viewing platform upstairs closes its doors. Afternoon tea is served daily, from midday to 4.30pm on weekdays, with classic, vegetarian, vegan and pescatarian versions.
Oblix, Level 32
Split into two rooms facing opposite directions, which is the detail that decides your booking rather than the menu.
Oblix
- Address
- Level 32, The Shard, SE1 9RY
- Nearest
- London Bridge
- Hours
- Lunch with a View at Oblix West, Monday to Friday midday to 2.30pm. Dinner set menu at Oblix East, Sunday to Thursday 6pm to 9.30pm
- Price
- Three course set lunch 39 pounds per person, described on the same page as a starting price
- Standing
- One restaurant in two halves, East and West, with two different views
How to get in
Oblix West looks one way and Oblix East looks the other, so ask which room your booking is in before you accept it. The 39 pound lunch is West only and runs a narrow window, midday to half past two, Monday to Friday. There is a three course Sunday roast in the same room.
Hutong, Level 33
The highest of the three, northern Chinese, and the only one in the tower that publishes what a window costs.

- Set lunch 39 pounds. Golden Sky menu 60. Skyline set menu 90 at lunch and 145 at dinner, which is the only booking that guarantees a window
- Standing
- Level 33, northern Chinese, and the only restaurant here that prices the view
How to get in
Their own FAQ answers the window question directly, which no other room in this building does. The 39 pound set lunch is good and it is not a window table. The Shanghai Bar is open 11am to 1am, and it is the only room in this tower that does it seven days a week.
The bars stay open long after the viewing platform shuts
This is the most useful thing on this page and almost nobody prints it.
On the day we checked, the viewing platform at the top of the building was listing its hours as 10am to 8pm. The Shanghai Bar on Level 33 is open until 1am, every night of the week. The bar at Aqua Shard on Level 31 runs to midnight from Sunday to Thursday and to 1am on Friday and Saturday. GŎNG, nineteen floors higher on Level 52, also runs to 1am from Thursday to Saturday, though the hotel’s page lists no Monday or Tuesday at all, while the bar’s own site opens at 3pm on both.
So after eight in the evening, a bar is not merely the cheaper way to get up The Shard. It is the only way. There is no ticket on sale that puts you in that building at eleven at night, and there are two rooms that will sell you a drink at that hour without asking you to eat.
Our guide to the tower itself covers the ticket, what Level 72 gives you that a restaurant floor cannot, and the two towers in this city that charge nothing at all.
The Shard dress code, and the price the building will not print
The restaurants in The Shard are more open about money than the attraction in The Shard, which is not what you would expect.
Aqua Shard prints £35. Oblix prints £39. Hutong prints £39, and then prints £90 for the window. All four of those numbers are on the pages you land on, and every one of them belongs to a room on Level 31, 32 or 33.
The viewing platform’s own website, meanwhile, carries exactly one price anywhere on it: kids tickets from £10. The adult price, which is the one every visitor is looking for, does not appear outside the booking engine. You have to start a transaction to find out what the thing costs.
That is a choice, and it is the same choice the premium gyms make. A published price invites comparison. An unpublished one starts a conversation instead.
The two floors that tell you nothing
Above Hutong the building goes quiet about money, and it swaps prices for dress codes.
TĪNG
- Address
- Level 35, 31 St Thomas Street, SE1 9RY
- Nearest
- London Bridge
- Hours
- Lunch Monday to Friday 12.30pm to 2.15pm. Dinner Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday 5.30pm to 9pm, Friday and Saturday 5.30pm to 9.30pm
- Booking
- Dress code given as smart casual
- Price
- Nothing published on its own page
- Standing
- Level 35, South East Asian, inside the hotel
How to get in
Higher than all three of the named restaurants and it prints no prices whatsoever. The detail worth catching is the dinner pattern: the published list runs Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, so Monday and Tuesday evenings do not appear on it at all. Check before you plan a Tuesday.
GŎNG
- Address
- Level 52, The Shard, 31 St Thomas Street, SE1 9RY
- Nearest
- London Bridge
- Hours
- Wednesday 3pm to 11.30pm. Thursday to Saturday midday to 1am. Sunday midday to 11.30pm. No Monday or Tuesday on the hotel's page, though the bar's own site opens Monday and Tuesday at 3pm
- Booking
- Dress code given as smart and elegant
- Price
- Nothing published on its own page
- Standing
- Level 52, the highest room in the tower you can get into without a ticket
How to get in
Nineteen floors above the restaurants and twenty below the viewing platform, and it is open until 1am from Thursday to Saturday. It publishes a dress code and no prices, which tells you which of the two it considers the barrier to entry.
Notice what replaces the price. The three rooms at the bottom of this list tell you what lunch costs. The two at the top tell you what to wear. Smart casual at Level 35, smart and elegant at Level 52, and not a pound sign between them.
That is not a complaint. It is the most reliable signal in the building: the higher you go, the more the question shifts from what you will spend to whether they want you in the room. Go with that expectation and neither floor will surprise you.
Street level, and why the walk is only five minutes
Come down and the arithmetic inverts completely.

- Standing
- Their own description: five minutes from the Shard, Bermondsey and Tower Bridge
How to get in
Steak, chips and a sauce comes to 21 pounds, which is the number to hold against the set menus upstairs. A bar with high stools at the front and a plant filled room behind it. The private dining room downstairs seats twelve and they state plainly that it has no accessible access.
Twenty one pounds at street level against thirty nine, thirty two floors up. That is the whole decision, and it is worth being honest about what the extra eighteen pounds buys: three courses instead of one, a room with a ceiling worth looking at, and a view you may or may not be sitting next to.
Worth knowing before you book: this company runs two separate restaurants in this district, one on Tooley Street and one at Borough, a few minutes apart. Search results and booking links do not always make clear which is which, and arriving at the wrong one is a ten minute correction. The Covent Garden branch is covered on its own page.
The market is two minutes west and it is a different question
Borough Market sits just behind the station, and a great many people searching for restaurants at London Bridge actually want the market and the streets around it: the chophouse on Winchester Walk, the pasta queue, the Michelin starred Greek room above a counter.
That is a separate page because it is a separate evening. Where to eat around Borough Market covers the serious tables two streets back from the stalls, and the market guide explains which days it trades in full, which is the single fact that ruins most visits to this postcode.
Practical notes
The restaurants and the viewing platform use different doors. Aqua Shard and Hutong both give their address as 31 St Thomas Street. The ticketed entrance is round the corner. Going to the wrong one with a dinner booking is the classic mistake here.
Ask which room, not just which restaurant. Oblix is two spaces facing opposite ways. The £39 lunch is in the West room only.
Book the cheap lunch for the food and not for the window. Hutong is the only one honest enough to say so in writing, and there is no reason to believe its neighbours run it differently.
The set lunches run narrow hours. Oblix West is midday to half past two, weekdays only. Aqua Shard’s lunch service runs to four. Turn up at three expecting the £39 menu at Oblix and it is gone.
Go up for a drink instead. Two bars in the building serve past midnight and neither requires a meal. On a first visit this is better value than any set menu, and considerably better than a ticket you cannot see the price of.
Everything on this page was taken from each venue’s own published pages on 27 September 2026 and rechecked on 2 October 2026. Set menu prices and window policies at this level change without notice. Confirm before you travel.

Where to go next
Borough is the neighbourhood immediately west, where the market and the Shard sit a hundred metres apart and keep opposite weeks.
Bermondsey Street runs south from here, with a French bistro that takes bookings only by telephone.
The Shard covers the tower and the ticket, including the two high viewing platforms in London that charge nothing. Restaurants with a view puts these three against the rooms on the other side of the river, and the best views in London covers the free ones.
Borough Market restaurants and the market itself are the two minute walk west. Tower Bridge is five minutes east along the river.
Hutong sits in the Chinese guide alongside the rooms that do the same cooking at a third of the height. For starred cooking in this postcode, the Michelin page has the set lunch arithmetic that applies across the city, and the afternoon tea guide covers the £70 sitting at Aqua Shard in its proper company.
Questions we get asked
What are the best restaurants at London Bridge?
The three in The Shard are Aqua Shard on Level 31, Oblix on Level 32 and Hutong on Level 33, and all three publish a set lunch between 35 and 39 pounds. At street level Flat Iron on Tooley Street does a flat iron steak for 15 pounds, so steak, chips and a sauce is 21. Two minutes west, the streets around Borough Market hold the district's most serious cooking, including a Michelin starred Greek room.
How much is a window table at The Shard?
At Hutong on Level 33 a window table is guaranteed only on the Skyline Set Menu, which is 90 pounds per person at lunch and 145 at dinner. That is the only published window price in the building. Aqua Shard and Oblix do not state a window policy at all, so a request there can be made and not promised. The cheaper set lunches at all three are tables in the room.
Is it cheaper to eat at The Shard than to pay for the view?
Almost certainly, though the attraction makes it hard to check because it does not publish an adult ticket price anywhere on its own website. The only figure printed is kids tickets from 10 pounds. Against that, the restaurants print everything: 35 pounds for an express lunch at Aqua Shard, 39 for three courses at Oblix or a set lunch at Hutong. A drink at either bar costs less again.
How late are the restaurants at The Shard open?
Later than the viewing platform, which closed at 8pm on the day we checked. Hutong's Shanghai Bar on Level 33 is open 11am to 1am every day of the week. The bar at Aqua Shard on Level 31 runs midday to midnight Sunday to Thursday and to 1am on Friday and Saturday. After eight in the evening a bar is the only way to be up the building at all.
What is the highest restaurant in The Shard?
Of the rooms you can book without staying in the hotel, TĪNG sits on Level 35 and the bar above it, GŎNG, is on Level 52, which is the highest room in the tower you can reach without a ticket. Neither publishes prices. Both publish a dress code instead, smart casual at 35 and smart and elegant at 52. The three named restaurants, Aqua Shard, Oblix and Hutong, sit lower at Levels 31, 32 and 33.
Do you need to book restaurants at London Bridge?
For the three in The Shard, yes, and for the set menus in particular because they run narrow hours. Oblix serves its 39 pound lunch in the West room only, midday to half past two, Monday to Friday. Aqua Shard takes bookings of eight or fewer by email and hands anything larger to its events team. Flat Iron on Tooley Street is the reliable unbooked answer and runs to half eleven at weekends.
Is Borough Market the same as London Bridge?
They are two minutes apart and they are different searches. Borough Market is a food market with short trading days and a crush at the weekend, and the good eating is in the streets behind it rather than in it. London Bridge is the station, the tower above it and Tooley Street running east. If you want the market, check which days it trades in full before you go.
