London Gentleman’s Guide is an independent guide to London, written for people who
would rather spend an evening somewhere genuinely good than tick off a landmark.
It exists because most London guides are written for a family of four with five days
and a National Trust membership. If you are here for three nights, on your own or with
one other person, and you have the means to do it properly, almost none of that is useful.
What we cover
Restaurants, bars, hotels, afternoon tea, spas and the neighbourhoods worth your time,
at the upper end. Not because expensive is automatically better, but because when you have
a short stay and one evening to get right, the margin between very good and merely fine
is the whole point.
We quote prices plainly. A guide that will not tell you what something costs is not
being tasteful, it is being unhelpful.
What we are not
We are not an agency, a booking service or a directory. We take no bookings of any kind
and we sell nothing. Nobody pays to be included. We are a guide.
How to use it
Start with the main guide, which links out
to everything else. If you already know what you want, the bar, restaurant and hotel lists
stand on their own, and the guides section covers practicalities.
Corrections and suggestions are welcome and acted on. See our
editorial policy for how we choose what goes in, and
