Dogs stay free. In a King’s Cross design hotel where most London equivalents charge £25 to £75 a night for one.

The Standard lists “Dogs Stay Free” as a standing offer, and dog friendly appears in the features of every room alongside the beds and the wifi, rather than as an exception to be negotiated.

That is unusual enough to be the reason to pick it. A two-night stay with a dog at a hotel charging £50 a night saves you £100 here.

You do not have to stay to use most of it

The Standard runs five separate venues and all of them take non-residents. That makes it more useful as a place to go than a place to sleep.

Double Standard, the all-day restaurant and bar on the ground floor, with what the hotel calls one of the best beer gardens in King’s Cross.

The Rooftop, with 360-degree views across the city, cocktails and bubbles on tap.

Decimo, the live-fire restaurant at the top.

Sweeties, for late nights.

Isla, all-day.

Decimo and the Rooftop are the two worth travelling for, because they are the only way to get the view without a room. The hotel’s own line is the honest one: “Stay for the night, or don’t.”

It is a Brutalist building, and that is the point

“A design hotel housed in a former Brutalist landmark.”

The building is the old Camden council annexe facing St Pancras, which is why it looks nothing like a hotel and why the external lift up the front of it is a glass and red-painted spectacle rather than a service shaft.

Inside there are 266 rooms and suites, from small rooms to terrace rooms with skyline views.

What is in the rooms

More specific than most hotels publish, and it tells you where the money went.

Italian sheets. Fluffy down pillows. Huge TVs. Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speakers. Custom Craig Green robes. Custom bath amenities. Overstocked minibars. Free WiFi. Access to a 24 hour gym.

Rooms with DDA compliance are available.

The 24-hour gym is the one worth noting for a King’s Cross stay built around early Eurostar departures.

It is now a Hyatt hotel

Checked on 6 October 2026, and not obvious from the branding.

The Standard’s own site carries “© 2026 Hyatt Corporation” in its footer, and its room booking links go to hyatt.com.

That matters for two practical reasons: World of Hyatt points and status may apply, and if you hold Hyatt status it is worth booking through them rather than through the hotel’s own front end.

Thirty seconds from St Pancras

10 Argyle Street, London WC1H 8EG. Telephone +44 (0)203 981 8888.

It faces St Pancras International directly, with King’s Cross next door. The hotel’s own phrase is “hop, skip and jump to Eurostar”, which for once is not an exaggeration: it is across the road.

For anyone catching an early Eurostar or arriving late off one, that proximity is the whole argument, and it puts Coal Drops Yard and Dishoom King’s Cross within a few minutes’ walk.

How to plan it

Travelling with a dog: dogs stay free.

Want the view without a room: Decimo or the Rooftop, both open to non-residents.

Early Eurostar: it is directly opposite St Pancras, with a 24 hour gym.

Hold Hyatt status: book through Hyatt, since the hotel now sits in that group.

Drinking rather than dining: Double Standard and its beer garden on the ground floor.

Late: Sweeties.

Questions we get asked

Does The Standard London allow dogs?

Yes, and it promotes a Dogs Stay Free offer, with dog friendly listed among the standard features of every room rather than as a chargeable extra. Most comparable London hotels charge between £25 and £75 a night for a dog.

Can you visit The Standard London without staying?

Yes. All five venues take non-residents: Double Standard, the all-day restaurant and bar with a beer garden; Isla, all-day; Sweeties, for late nights; the Rooftop, with 360-degree views; and Decimo, the live-fire restaurant at the top. The Rooftop and Decimo are the only ways to get the view without a room.

Is The Standard London part of Hyatt?

Yes. Checked on 6 October 2026, the hotel's own site carries a 2026 Hyatt Corporation copyright and its room booking links go to hyatt.com, so World of Hyatt points and status are likely to apply. If you hold Hyatt status it is worth booking through Hyatt rather than the hotel's own front end.

How close is The Standard London to St Pancras?

Directly opposite. The hotel is at 10 Argyle Street, WC1H 8EG, facing St Pancras International with King's Cross next door, which makes it one of the closest hotels in London to the Eurostar terminal. It also has a 24 hour gym, useful around early departures.

What restaurants are in The Standard London?

Five venues: Double Standard for all-day food and drink with a beer garden, Isla for all-day dining, Decimo for live-fire cooking at the top of the building, the Rooftop bar with 360-degree views, and Sweeties for late nights. All are open to people not staying at the hotel.
