Stamford Bridge Tour: A Guide, Not a Handset

Rows of blue seats in a football stadium at Stamford Bridge

Stamford Bridge and the Emirates both charge 34 pounds for a stadium tour. One of them gives you a human being.

Chelsea’s tour is live-guided, 60 minutes, with a real guide. Arsenal’s standard tour at the same price is a handset you carry round yourself. Whichever you prefer, that is the actual difference between them, and neither club puts it next to the price.

The second thing: walking up costs 4 pounds more per adult and 16 pounds more for a family.

What it costs

Pre-booked first, walk-up second.

Adult: 34 pounds, or 38 on the day.

Concession, meaning over 65s and students: 29 pounds, or 33.

Child aged 5 to 15: 24 pounds, or 28.

Family of two adults and two children: 99 pounds, or 115.

Infants under 5 and carers go free.

The family ticket is where pre-booking actually pays: sixteen pounds, for the sake of clicking a date in advance.

The other tours

The Classic Tour: 49 pounds adult, 39 concession, 34 child.

The Birthday Tour: 37 pounds adult, 27 child.

The Legends Tour with Kerry Dixon: 95 pounds. Note that figure carefully, because it is the same for everyone. Adults, concessions and children all pay 95 pounds on this one, so a family of four is 380 pounds with no reduction of any kind.

The VIP Private Tour: from 575 pounds for up to four people.

What the standard ticket covers

Sixty minutes with a guide through the dressing rooms, the press room, the players’ tunnel and pitchside.

The Chelsea FC Museum is included in the ticket price and can be visited before or after the tour, which matters because it is a separate building visit rather than a corridor you pass through. The club describes it as holding the most complete collection of silverware in London.

Every guest gets a free Chelsea lanyard, and there is a photograph opportunity on arrival with the Club World Cup and the five European trophies. The photograph itself is bought separately.

The tour has been running for 23 years, which is longer than most of the people on it have supported the club.

Where it is

Stamford Bridge, Fulham Road, London SW6 1HS. Fulham Broadway is the station, a few minutes away on the District line.

Enquiries go to tours@chelseafc.com.

It sits at the Fulham end of Chelsea rather than the King’s Road end, which catches people out. Our Chelsea guide covers the walk, and the Chelsea restaurants cover lunch.

How to choose

Always pre-book, which saves 4 pounds an adult and 16 on a family.

Want a guide rather than a handset: this one over the Emirates, at the same headline price.

With a carer or a toddler: both go free.

Thinking about the Legends Tour: do the maths first, because children are not discounted and four people is 380 pounds.

Questions we get asked

How much is the Stamford Bridge tour?

34 pounds for an adult booked in advance, or 38 on the day. Concessions for over 65s and students are 29 or 33, children aged 5 to 15 are 24 or 28, and a family of two adults and two children is 99 or 115. Infants under 5 and carers go free.

Is the Chelsea museum included in the stadium tour?

Yes, the Chelsea FC Museum is included in the ticket price and can be visited either before or after the tour. The club describes it as the most complete collection of silverware in London.

What is the difference between the Chelsea and Arsenal stadium tours?

Price is the same at 34 pounds for an adult, but the format is not. Chelsea's standard tour is live-guided and runs 60 minutes with a real guide. Arsenal's standard tour is self-guided with a handset, in seven languages including British Sign Language.

How much is the Chelsea Legends Tour?

95 pounds, and that is the price for adults, concessions and children alike. There is no child or concession rate on this tour, so a family of four pays 380 pounds.

Where is Stamford Bridge?
