The Moulin Rouge windmill and sign, the emblem of the musical

You cannot book Moulin Rouge more than about six months ahead, however much you want to. But a group can book to July 2027.

The production keeps roughly six months of performances on sale and releases one additional week every Monday. If the date you want is further out than that, there is no ticket to buy at any price. You wait for the Monday.

Meanwhile, on the same page: group and education rate tickets are on sale until July 2027. So a party of ten can hold a date nine months beyond the furthest an individual can reach. If you are planning something far ahead, going as a group is not just cheaper, it is the only way to book at all.

The times change on 11 January 2027

Now: Monday to Saturday 7.30pm, with matinees Thursday and Saturday at 2.30pm.

From 11 January 2027: Monday and Tuesday 7pm, Wednesday to Saturday 7.30pm, matinees unchanged at 2.30pm Thursday and Saturday.

So Monday and Tuesday move half an hour earlier in the new year. Worth noting if you book a January date now and plan dinner around a 7.30 curtain.

The ticket does not arrive when you pay

A small thing that causes a lot of unnecessary worry.

You get confirmation of purchase straight away. The e-ticket itself is sent two weeks before the performance.

So if you booked four months out and have nothing in your inbox, that is the system working, not a lost order.

Exchanges, and the 48 hour wall

Tickets are non-refundable as standard.

An exchange may be possible if you booked through the show’s own site or ATG Tickets, subject to availability and an exchange fee. It must happen at least 48 hours before the performance. Inside two days, nothing.

Arrive earlier than you think

Show duration: approximately 2 hours 45 minutes including the interval.

The auditorium opens at 1.45pm for matinees and 6.45pm for evening performances. The bars open 45 minutes before that, at 1pm and 6pm, for drinks and snacks.

They recommend arriving about 30 minutes early, and a lockout period applies.

One genuinely useful detail: once the auditorium is open you can order drinks and have them delivered to your seat. So the queue at the bar is optional. Lounge package holders get the Ambassador Lounge from 1pm or 6pm.

Box office hours are Monday to Saturday, 10am to 7.30pm.

Can Can seats

Table seats at the front of the stalls, called Can Can seats, extremely close to the stage and surrounded on all sides by the action.

They are bookable separately and the production advises reading the detail before buying, which is fair: being inside the staging is not what everyone wants from a seat.

Access performances

Published upcoming dates, captured on 5 October 2026:

Tuesday 1 December, 7.30pm, captioned.

Tuesday 8 December, 7.30pm, British Sign Language interpreted.

Tuesday 15 December, 7.30pm, audio described.

One honest note: the same list also shows three Saturday matinees in September 2026 as upcoming, which have passed. The December dates are the live ones, and more are promised.

Groups and parking

Group rates start at 6 tickets. For parties over 9, enquiries go to ATG’s Groups Department on 020 7206 1174, and GroupLine is on 020 7206 1173.

Q-Park gives 15% off pre-booked parking to anyone booking through ATG, which is the only parking discount attached to any of the big musicals.

Gift vouchers are available online in any value through ATG, valid for 12 months, and there are souvenir ticket designs to print.

Where it is

Piccadilly Theatre, 16 Denman Street, London W1D 7DY.

Piccadilly Circus is the nearest station, on the Piccadilly and Bakerloo lines. Buses 24, 29 and 176.

Santander Cycles docking stations at Golden Square, Wardour Street and Sackville Street off Regent Street.

How to plan it

Booking far ahead: you cannot, unless you are a group. Six months is the individual limit, July 2027 the group one.

Watching for a date: check on a Monday, when a further week goes on sale.

Booking a January date: check the curtain time, because Monday and Tuesday move to 7pm from 11 January 2027.

Arrive by 7pm for a 7.30pm start, and order drinks to your seat rather than queueing.

Need to change a date: do it more than 48 hours out, and expect a fee.

Driving: book Q-Park in advance through ATG for 15% off.

The e-ticket arrives two weeks before the performance, not on purchase. Exchanges need 48 hours notice and a fee, and tickets are otherwise non-refundable.

Where to go next

Wicked has five cheap ticket routes and Hamilton a £10 lottery, both of which Moulin Rouge does not.

The West End page covers the rest, and pre-theatre dinner covers eating before a 7.30pm curtain.

Questions we get asked

How far ahead can you book Moulin Rouge in London?

About six months. The production keeps roughly six months of performances on sale and releases one additional week every Monday. Group and education tickets, however, are on sale until July 2027, so a group can book far further ahead than an individual.

How long is Moulin Rouge the Musical?

Approximately 2 hours 45 minutes including the interval. The auditorium opens at 1.45pm for matinees and 6.45pm for evening performances, and they recommend arriving about 30 minutes early because a lockout period applies.

What time does Moulin Rouge start in London?

Monday to Saturday at 7.30pm, with matinees on Thursday and Saturday at 2.30pm. From 11 January 2027 the Monday and Tuesday performances move to 7pm, while Wednesday to Saturday stay at 7.30pm.

When do Moulin Rouge tickets arrive?

You get confirmation of purchase immediately, but the e-ticket itself is sent two weeks before the performance. If you booked months ahead and have no ticket yet, that is normal.

Can you exchange Moulin Rouge tickets?

Tickets are non-refundable as standard. If you booked through the show's own site or ATG Tickets an exchange may be possible, subject to availability and an exchange fee, and it must be done at least 48 hours before the performance.

What are Can Can seats at Moulin Rouge?

Table seats at the front of the stalls, extremely close to the stage and surrounded on all sides by the action onstage. They are booked separately, and the production suggests reading the detail before buying.

Is there a parking discount for Moulin Rouge?

Yes. Q-Park offers 15% off pre-booked parking to anyone booking through ATG, which runs the Piccadilly Theatre.
