Most people think a theatre lottery means refreshing an app on the morning of the show. Hamilton’s does not work like that, and the difference is nearly six days.
Entries open at 12.01am on Friday and close at 1pm the following Thursday. Each draw is for the chance to buy one or two £10 tickets for any performance the following week.
So you have a 157 hour window to enter, once a week, for a ten pound seat. There is no queue and no need to be awake at a particular minute. It is run with TodayTix, and there is a Hamilton app that enters more quickly.
£10 is the cheapest published route into any of London’s three biggest musicals. Wicked’s cheapest is £29.50.
If you do not win the lottery
Three things are published on the ticket page and all three are useful.
Best availability is midweek. Their own words, on their own booking page.
Booking is open to March 2027, so the long game is available if the next few months are full.
Check daily for returns. Which is the polite way of saying the calendar changes, and a performance that showed nothing yesterday may show something today.
Running time and the finish
2 hours 45 minutes in total, including a 15-minute interval.
A 7.30pm performance should finish at around 10.15pm. Exact finish times vary slightly.
Note the interval: 15 minutes here, against 20 at Wicked, for the same overall 2 hours 45. Hamilton gives you five more minutes of show for the same time in the building.
The age rule is the strictest of the three
Recommended for ages 10 and over, because the show contains some strong language.
Children under 3 will not be admitted.
Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by and seated next to a ticket holder aged 18 or over.
Ten is higher than either of the other two long-runners, which both recommend seven. If you are choosing a musical for a child of eight or nine, the recommendation points elsewhere.
A note on the theatre’s own website
Worth knowing if you go looking for venue information. Checked on 5 October 2026: lwtheatres.co.uk, the website of the company that owns the Victoria Palace Theatre, returns a page reading Website Unavailable.
Ticketing has moved to lwtickets.co.uk, which works, but the venue pages that used to carry seating plans, access details and box office hours are not currently reachable. The Hamilton listing still links to the unavailable site.
So for access requirements, telephone the theatre rather than expecting to find it published. Accessible performances are scheduled and the venue supports a range of access requirements, but the detail is not online where it used to be.
Where it is
Victoria Palace Theatre, 126 Victoria Street, London SW1E 5EA.
A few minutes from Victoria station, which puts it within a short walk of the Apollo Victoria. Two of the three biggest musicals in London are effectively on the same street corner, which nobody tells you when you are choosing between them.
The current London run began on Monday 14 September 2026.
What it has won
7 Olivier Awards, 11 Tony Awards including Best Musical, the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2016 Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album.
Book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, directed by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton.
How to plan it
Cheapest: enter the lottery. Entries open 12.01am Friday, close 1pm Thursday, £10 for one or two seats for the following week. You have almost six days to do it.
Paying full price: book midweek, which is where the theatre says availability is best.
Sold out: check daily for returns, or book into 2027.
With children: ages 10 and up, and nobody under 3 at all.
Access requirements: telephone, because the venue’s own website is currently unavailable.

How to get in
The lottery is a weekly draw with a six day entry window rather than a same-day scramble, at 10 pounds a ticket. Recommended for ages 10 and over for strong language, with under 3s not admitted and under 16s seated next to an 18 plus. Checked 5 October 2026: the venue operator’s own site, lwtheatres.co.uk, shows a Website Unavailable page.
Where to go next
Wicked is a short walk away with five cheap ticket routes, and Les Misérables is the one with the half-price parking.
The West End page covers the rest, and pre-theatre dinner covers eating before a 7.30pm curtain.
