The rooftop at Sea Containers is over 18s only, at all times. Not after a certain hour, not in the evening: 12th Knot does not admit anyone under 18 at any point in the day. Lyaness, the bar downstairs, is more conventional and goes 18 plus from 5pm. If you are visiting the South Bank with teenagers and had pictured a rooftop view of the river, that is the rule that ends the plan.
Everything below comes from the hotel’s own FAQ, read on 10 October 2026.
Dogs under 20lbs
Dogs are welcome, but only if they weigh 20lbs or less, which is around 9kg and rules out most medium breeds. There is a £100 deposit per pet and a waiver to sign. Dogs are allowed in Gordon Ramsay at Sea Containers and in The Den, but not in the bars, and they can never be left alone in a room.
Rooms, ages and extra beds
You must be 18 or over to book a room, and children under 18 have to stay with someone aged 18 or above. Children are otherwise welcome and there is a children’s menu. A rollaway bed costs £50 and has to be requested in advance, because only some room types can take one.
Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is noon. A valid credit card is required at check-in.
No pool
The hotel says plainly that it has no swimming pool, which is worth knowing because the building’s spa reputation leads people to assume otherwise. There is a gym, open 24 hours, for residents.
Parking and cancellation
Parking is described as very limited, first come first served and subject to availability, at £45 per 24 hours from Sunday to Thursday and £49.99 from Friday to Sunday. For a riverside hotel ten minutes’ walk from Blackfriars, the train is the easier answer.
On flexible rates, cancel before 6pm the day before arrival or you are charged one night’s room and tax. Pre-paid bookings are non-refundable, and special offers can carry their own terms, so read the rate you are booking rather than assuming.
Luggage storage is free for hotel guests through the front desk, and bags can be held for up to 24 hours after you check out. After that the hotel says it is not responsible for them.
