There is no Nobu in Shoreditch any more. The building is still there, the rooms are still there, but the name came off it on 5 August 2025.
If you have a booking, a voucher, a recommendation or a memory attached to Nobu Hotel Shoreditch, this is what happened to it.
The timeline
2017: the hotel opened at 10 to 50 Willow Street with 164 bedrooms, as Nobu Hospitality’s first hotel in Europe.
February 2025: the building was acquired by Limestone Capital, a private equity firm.
5 August 2025: the operative date. As reported at the time, “effective August 5, 2025, Nobu Hotel Shoreditch will undergo a rebrand and will no longer operate as a Nobu Hotel and Restaurant.”
Note that it covers both halves. Not just the hotel: the restaurant too.
15 September 2025: bookings opened under the new name, Aethos London Shoreditch, the first UK property for the Swiss hospitality group Aethos.
So the Nobu name has been off the building for over a year as of October 2026.
What is in the building now
The same address, substantially the same architecture, a different proposition.
Aethos London Shoreditch describes itself as a boutique hotel and members’ club, which is the biggest change: there is now a membership layer that did not exist before, called the Aethos Club, and staying guests are treated as resident members with access to a programme of talks, tastings and members-only dinners.
The interiors were reworked rather than gutted. Design coverage of the rebrand noted that many of the original architectural elements were retained, including a terracotta feature wall, with concrete, terracotta and brushed metals layered against timber and textiles. The hotel’s own description is of a “warm, minimalist touch” taking cues from the building’s existing architecture.
Two places to eat, and one of them matters if you came for the Japanese food.
Aethos Café serves Mediterranean-inspired dishes, coffee and cocktails.
Mitsu is the Japanese one. The hotel describes it as bringing “East Tokyo’s vibrant izakaya culture to Shoreditch with flame-grilled dishes, shareable plates, and lively DJ sets.”
That is worth being clear about. Mitsu is an izakaya, not a Nobu. Flame-grilled, shareable, with DJs. If you were going for the black cod with miso, that is not what this is. If you wanted Japanese food in Shoreditch with a bar atmosphere, it is a direct replacement.
There is also a wellbeing and fitness space.
Where the actual Nobu restaurants are now
Nobu has not left London. Its official restaurant list shows two London locations:
Nobu London Old Park Lane, a restaurant.
Nobu London Portman Square, which is both a restaurant and the Nobu Hotel London Portman Square, now the group’s only hotel in the city.
So if what you want is Nobu food, go to Old Park Lane or Portman Square. If what you want is a Nobu hotel in London, Portman Square is the only one.
Old Park Lane is the original, open since 1997, and the one most people mean when they say Nobu London.
Why this page exists
Thousands of people a month still search for Nobu Hotel Shoreditch, which is not surprising: it was open for eight years, it was widely reviewed, and it is still named on plenty of maps and listings.
The two mistakes that follow from that are worth heading off.
Do not book Aethos expecting Nobu. Different operator, different restaurant, a members’ club layer, and a different design intent, even in the same rooms.
Do not go to Willow Street for the Nobu restaurant. It is not there. Old Park Lane and Portman Square are.
Where it was
10 to 50 Willow Street, London EC2A 4BH, now Aethos London Shoreditch.
Old Street and Shoreditch High Street are both walkable, which has not changed.

How to get in
Closed under this name. Effective 5 August 2025 the property stopped operating as a Nobu Hotel and Restaurant, and from 15 September 2025 it took bookings as Aethos London Shoreditch, the Swiss group’s first UK hotel. Original architectural elements including a terracotta feature wall were kept. The Japanese restaurant in the building is now Mitsu, an East Tokyo style izakaya with flame-grilled plates and DJ sets, alongside the Mediterranean Aethos Cafe, and there is now a members’ club. Nobu’s remaining London locations are Old Park Lane and Portman Square, the latter being the group’s only London hotel.
Where to go next
The best hotels in London covers what is open, and Shoreditch covers the area around Willow Street.
Japanese restaurants in London covers where the food went, and Dishoom Shoreditch is the other big name on the same streets.
Questions we get asked
Is Nobu Hotel Shoreditch still open?
Not as a Nobu. Effective 5 August 2025 the property stopped operating as a Nobu Hotel and Restaurant, and from 15 September 2025 it took bookings as Aethos London Shoreditch, the first UK hotel for the Swiss group Aethos. The building at 10 to 50 Willow Street is still a hotel with the same 164 rooms, under different ownership and a different name.
What is Nobu Hotel Shoreditch called now?
Aethos London Shoreditch. The building was bought by the private equity firm Limestone Capital in February 2025, rebranded that August and reopened for bookings in September 2025. It now operates as a boutique hotel with a members' club attached, called the Aethos Club.
Is there still a Nobu restaurant in Shoreditch?
No. The August 2025 rebrand covered the restaurant as well as the hotel. The Japanese restaurant in the building is now Mitsu, described as an East Tokyo style izakaya with flame-grilled dishes, shareable plates and DJ sets, which is a different proposition from Nobu. There is also Aethos Café, serving Mediterranean dishes.
Where is Nobu in London now?
Nobu's official restaurant list shows two London locations: Nobu London Old Park Lane, the original, and Nobu London Portman Square. Portman Square is also the Nobu Hotel London Portman Square, which is now the group's only hotel in the city.
Did Aethos change the inside of the Nobu Shoreditch building?
It was reworked rather than stripped out. Coverage of the rebrand noted that many original architectural elements were kept, including a terracotta feature wall, with concrete, terracotta and brushed metals layered against timber and textiles. The hotel describes the new interiors as taking cues from the building's existing architecture with a warm, minimalist touch, and says subtle references to Japanese design remain.
