A London street of brick warehouse buildings

London Museum Docklands is a cashless museum whose lockers take a coin. The museum says both things on the same page: card or contactless only throughout, except that cash donations and locker coins are still accepted. The lockers cost £1, so bring one pound in metal if you are carrying a bag.

That matters more here than at most museums, because large luggage is not allowed in at all. The lockers take cabin-sized luggage, up to 24cm by 37cm by 43cm, and anything bigger has to go elsewhere.

We read the museum’s own pages on 10 October 2026.

Free, and no ticket

The galleries are free and unticketed, so you can turn up without booking. Booking is recommended only for the Mudlarks family gallery, an interactive play area for under-8s, and for groups of 10 or more.

It is open 10am to 5pm every day. The café runs 10am to 4pm and the shop 10am to 5pm, so the last hour is galleries only.

Where it is

No. 1 Warehouse, West India Quay, E14 4AL. West India Quay on the DLR is a three minute walk. Westferry on the DLR is seven minutes, and Canary Wharf, which has the DLR, the Jubilee line and the Elizabeth line, is also seven minutes. That makes it one of the easier free museums to reach from central London, and an easy pairing with anything else in Canary Wharf.

Worth knowing

The museum is part of London Museum, whose main new site at Smithfield opens on 28 November 2026. Docklands is a separate building and stays open.

The museum does not publish its policies on buggies, photography or dogs on its visitor pages, so ask at the desk if one of those decides your visit.
