Do not queue at the Troxy before 1pm. The venue’s licence prevents it, to keep the pavements clear for the people who live around it, and the penalty is not a telling off: anyone who turns up earlier will be turned away and risks having their ticket cancelled. That includes loitering nearby rather than standing in an actual line.

The bag rule is just as tight. Nothing larger than A4, which rules out backpacks, suitcases, laptop bags and large holdalls, and the venue would rather you brought nothing at all. All bags are searched.

Everything below comes from the Troxy’s own FAQ and accessibility pages, read on 10 October 2026.

The bans that surprise people

Chewing gum is banned, and the venue says plainly that this is to protect its carpet. So is perfume and aftershave, not because of the contents but because of the glass bottles, which fall under the prohibited items rule. If security finds a bottle it is confiscated and thrown away before you go in.

Also refused: outside food and drink, glass of any kind, flammable liquids, laser pens, large umbrellas, banners, animals, anything that makes a noise such as drums, whistles or horns, and professional cameras, go-pros and drones. The venue cannot store any of it, so a prohibited item has to be binned on the spot. Its own advice is that if you are in doubt, leave it at home.

Refusal means no refund

If you are refused entry or thrown out, you are not refunded, and that is in the terms you accepted when you bought the ticket. Arriving drunk is enough: the venue says anyone who has drunk too much beforehand, appears intoxicated, or behaves badly in the queue or within sight of staff may be refused without a refund.

If you are under 25 and have no ID, security decides whether you get in at all, and the bar will not serve you without a physical ID regardless. Last entry is strict and varies by show, and the venue says it will not let anyone in after that time, so the doors time on your ticket matters.

Tickets

The Troxy is digital only and does not sell tickets over the phone, though staff will talk you through booking online. Tickets can be transferred free through Ticketmaster, which issues the recipient a new barcode and voids the original.

Exchanges are possible but hedged: the event must be at least 24 hours away, you need to give 48 hours’ notice, a per ticket fee applies, you must have bought directly from Ticketmaster rather than through transfer, resale or a third party, and the new tickets must cost the same or more and be marked with a blue dot rather than a pink one, which indicates resale.

Access: the front stalls are the trap

Front Stalls tickets are not step-free. The lower ground area at the front of the auditorium is reached by three steps down from the upper ground floor. For most fully seated events, Stalls, Stalls Middle and Stalls Rear are step-free.

Accessible tickets come in three types online: Wheelchair Accessible, which is for wheelchair users only, plus Ambulant Disabled and Sight Impaired positions, which sit in the general seated areas but are picked for ease of access or proximity to the stage. One free carer ticket is allowed per accessible ticket, and companion tickets must be added at the time of purchase rather than afterwards. Crucially, the venue cannot issue a companion ticket to anyone who bought from a third party outlet.

For standing shows the process is fiddly: buy all the tickets you need in general admission, then contact the Ticketmaster accessible team, who swap one to a companion ticket and refund its value. A UK Access Card with the +1 symbol, or another government-issued companion scheme, is the proof, and the card number has to be given at the time of booking.

If you book a Stalls seat on an aisle or in the front or back row, staff will remove it to make space for a wheelchair or mobility scooter if you ask. The access inbox is monitored 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday, so weekend events need an email by 6pm on the Friday. If you miss that, go to the box office on arrival.

Getting there

Limehouse station is 400 metres away, a six minute walk, on the DLR and the c2c line from Fenchurch Street. Bank is six minutes away by DLR. Shadwell on the Windrush line is a 15 minute walk. From the west, the Elizabeth line reaches Canary Wharf in about 17 minutes from Paddington and 10 from Tottenham Court Road, then it is the DLR to Limehouse. Questions we get asked

What is the bag policy at the Troxy?

Bags must be no bigger than A4, and backpacks, suitcases, laptop bags and large holdalls are not permitted. All bags are searched on entry, and the venue encourages you to bring nothing at all.

Can you queue early at the Troxy?

No. The venue's licence prevents queueing before 1pm, to keep the area clear for neighbours. Anyone arriving earlier is turned away and risks having their ticket cancelled, and that includes waiting nearby.

Why is perfume banned at the Troxy?

Because of the glass bottles, which are prohibited items. Any found are confiscated and disposed of before you are let in. Chewing gum is also banned, to protect the venue's carpet.

Can you get a refund if you are refused entry at the Troxy?

No. Refusal or ejection means no refund, under the terms you agree to when buying. Arriving intoxicated or behaving badly in the queue is enough to be refused.

Is the Troxy step-free?

Mostly, but not the Front Stalls, which are down three steps from the upper ground floor. For most fully seated events, Stalls, Stalls Middle and Stalls Rear seats are step-free.

How do you book a carer ticket at the Troxy?

One free carer ticket per accessible ticket, added at the time of purchase. For standing shows, buy all the tickets you need and ask the Ticketmaster accessible team to swap one and refund it. The venue cannot issue companion tickets to anyone who bought through a third party.

How do you get to the Troxy?

Limehouse station is 400 metres away, about six minutes on foot, on the DLR and c2c, and six minutes from Bank by DLR. Shadwell is a 15 minute walk. Taxis use Caroline Street at the side of the venue.
