The Connaught has three places to eat and drink. The Savoy has nine.
That is the whole character of the hotel in one comparison. Where the other grand London hotels have spread into taverns, cookery schools and cigar shops, The Connaught has stayed deliberately small and concentrated.
Hélène Darroze at The Connaught. The Connaught Bar. The Connaught Grill. That is the list.
The only Aman Spa in a London hotel
The genuinely distinctive thing here, and it is easy to miss because it sits in the navigation as one word.
The Connaught’s spa is an Aman Spa.
Aman is a hotel brand in its own right, and finding one of its spas inside another company’s hotel is unusual anywhere. In London it is the only one. If you know Aman from Asia, this is the nearest thing to it in Mayfair.
Spa treatments are bookable separately from a stay, through the same booking system as the restaurants.
The Connaught Bar
The hotel describes it simply as award-winning, and it is the room most people come for rather than the restaurants.
It is worth knowing it is a destination bar rather than a hotel lobby bar, which means it fills, and that a drink here is the cheapest way into the building.
Hélène Darroze, and the Grill
Hélène Darroze at The Connaught is the fine dining room, under the chef’s own name rather than the hotel’s.
The Connaught Grill is the second restaurant, which the hotel positions as Mayfair on the menu, so the less formal of the two.
Two restaurants and one bar, all bookable through the hotel’s own system, with separate tabs for staying, dining and the spa.
Suites come with a personal butler
Suites at The Connaught include personal butlers and bespoke experiences, and some have private terraces above the skyline.
Note the difference in how this is sold. The Ritz publishes a Butler Service as a named, separate service. Here it comes with the suite.
It is a Maybourne hotel, like Claridge’s
The Connaught is part of Maybourne, the same group as Claridge’s.
That matters practically: the two hotels share a booking platform and a membership structure, so if you have dealt with one you are dealing with the same systems at the other.
There are also Residences, an online shop, a gift voucher scheme and a published experiences programme.
Mount Street, not Park Lane
Carlos Place, Mayfair, London W1K 2AL, on the corner of Mount Street.
Bond Street and Green Park are the nearest stations. The hotel calls its setting Mayfair Village and describes itself as deeply rooted in the Mount Street neighbourhood, which is the quieter, shop-lined part of Mayfair rather than the Park Lane traffic.
That is the real distinction from The Dorchester and the Ritz, both of which sit on major roads. The Connaught is on a corner you have to mean to find.
How to plan it
Cheapest way in: a drink at The Connaught Bar.
Fine dining: Hélène Darroze. Less formal: The Connaught Grill.
Spa: it is an Aman Spa, bookable without staying, and the only one in a London hotel.
Staying in a suite: a personal butler is included, not an add-on.
Already know Claridge’s: same group, same systems.
Wanting a quiet address: Mount Street rather than Park Lane or Piccadilly.

How to get in
It has only three places to eat and drink, against nine at The Savoy, which makes it the most concentrated of the grand London hotels. Its spa is an Aman Spa, the only one inside a London hotel. Suites include personal butlers rather than charging for them separately, and it shares its booking systems with Claridge’s under the Maybourne group.
Where to go next
Claridge’s is the other Maybourne hotel, and its festive tea blackout is worth planning around.
The Savoy, The Ritz and The Dorchester cover the rest, and the hotels page compares them.
Questions we get asked
What restaurants are in The Connaught?
Three venues in total: Hélène Darroze at The Connaught for fine dining, The Connaught Grill as the less formal restaurant, and The Connaught Bar. That is fewer than any comparable grand London hotel, where The Savoy has nine and The Langham seven.
Does The Connaught have a spa?
Yes, and it is an Aman Spa, the only one inside a London hotel. Treatments can be booked separately from a stay through the hotel's own booking system.
Is The Connaught the same company as Claridge's?
Yes, both are Maybourne hotels, so they share a booking platform and membership structure. If you have booked one you will recognise the systems at the other.
Do Connaught suites include a butler?
Yes. Suites at The Connaught come with personal butlers and bespoke experiences, and some have private terraces. The Ritz by contrast publishes its Butler Service as a separate named service.
Where is The Connaught?
Carlos Place in Mayfair, London W1K 2AL, on the corner of Mount Street. Bond Street and Green Park are the nearest stations. It sits in the quieter, shop-lined part of Mayfair rather than on Park Lane or Piccadilly.
