Journal
Every guide we publish, newest first. London restaurants, bars, pubs, hotels, afternoon tea, spas and nightlife, each one checked against the venue's own published information rather than against other guides.

London’s Most Recommended Malaysian Restaurant Closed in May
Sambal Shiok served its final bowl on 27 May 2026 and most lists still have it at the top. Its founder told The Times the restaurant made nothing on its £22 laksa. What is left trades on the tightest hours of any cuisine in this guide.
Three Groups Serve Most of London’s Ramen. Only One Books Everywhere.
Kanada-Ya runs a walk-up at one site out of six. Tonkotsu's booking and step-free access differ branch to branch. Bone Daddies takes a reservation at all eight. Which bowl you get is decided by the branch, not the brand.
A Board Game Cafe Charges You Twice, and Nobody Prints the Second One
Every list quotes the admission fee. None of them mentions the minimum spend on top of it, or the three hour cap, or that the one ranking first is shut four days a week. What each London board game cafe actually costs for an afternoon.
A 1994 Licensing Law Decides Where You Can Shop on a Sunday
A shop over 280 square metres may open for six hours on a Sunday. A shop under it may open all day. That single rule sorts London's shopping streets into the ones worth your Sunday and the ones that will be opening at half past eleven.
Richmond’s Best Kitchen Stops Serving at Teatime Three Days a Week
Most disappointment about eating in Richmond comes from one fact nobody prints: the best cooking is a mile from the station and does no dinner on Tuesday, Wednesday or Sunday. Richmond is three districts wearing one name, and the question is which you meant.
The Most Recommended Place to Eat in Brixton Has a Closing Date
Pop Brixton is open now and, on Lambeth's own published position, closes towards the end of 2026. Every other guide still lists it as permanent. Meanwhile the covered markets were added to the council's Asset of Community Value list in July.
The Thing That Makes You Miss the Train Is the Bill, Not the Food
Every guide to restaurants near a London station ranks the rooms by how good they are, which is the wrong question when you have fifty minutes and a seat reservation. Sorted by the clock instead: Victoria, Liverpool Street, Waterloo, Euston, Paddington, King's Cross and London Bridge.
There Are Two Camdens, and Only One of Them Is the Market
Camden Town is a market, a canal and three music venues. The London Borough of Camden is the British Library, Regent's Park and Hampstead Heath. Search engines do not separate them, and one of the pages currently ranking for things to do in Camden is about South Carolina.
Six London Rooms Advertise Christmas Day Lunch. None Will Say What It Costs.
Google's most asked question about Christmas lunch in London is what it costs at the Ritz. The Ritz does not say, and nor do five more of the rooms that rank first for it. Hawksmoor prints its ordinary set lunch to the penny and prices Christmas at nothing.
Only 5 of 96 London Venues Are Still Serving After 1am
London has a reputation as a late city and its own published hours do not support it. A third stop before eleven, barely a third reach midnight, and the five that pass 2am are a members club, a nightclub, two bars and a karaoke room.

Questions we get asked
How often is the guide updated?
Continuously, and each page records the month it was last checked rather than only the date it was first written. Opening hours and prices in London change often enough that an unchecked guide is worse than none.
How do you decide what goes in?
Every entry is verified against the venue's own published information, not against other guides. Nothing is included in exchange for payment, and nothing is excluded for refusing it.
